| BIOGRAPHY OF RAMÓN URAIN LATASA |
Born
in San Sebastián (Guipúzcoa) on 31 of
December of 1948. Self-taught person, uses the colors like
means of basic expression in his early years.
He attends High School in
Marianistas of San Sebastián.
1967:
He transfers to Barcelona where
he studies in the Faculty of
Technical Architecture and alternates the painting and
drawing with fabric design.
1972:
He exclusively centers his activities in drawing, the
watercolor and waxes in his study of the Calvet street of
the Catalonian capital.
1974:
He makes his first exhibition
in San Sebastián, in the Room of Tourism, where it
presents/displays drawings and waxes.
1975:
San Sebastián. Room of Tourism.
Barcelona. Caliú room, where Jose Antonio Samaranch,
President of the Delegation of Barcelona, acquires two works
of the Muestra (show)
for the Institution.
He joins the Association of Catalan
Watercolorists.
1976:
San Sebastián. Expo Room.
Pamplona. Berthé Gallery.
Girona. La Bisbal.
1977:
San Sebastián. Expo Room.

inaugurates the Gallery Joaquin Mir.

1981-1989:
He takes part with
illustrations in the first edition of "El
Quixote" in
Basque language (euskera) and joins the Association of
Basque Watercolorists.
Participates in collective expositions
in San Sebastián, Zarauz, Barcelona-Neyroe, Girona, Palma de Mallora, Bearn, Sitges, Olot, etc.
Starts on 1981
the “Bird Collection Of The Basque
Country” with the advising of Jose Maria Faus,
Director of Ornithology of the Society of Sciences
"Aranzadi".
1990:
Finishes the "Bird Collection Of The
Basque Country" wich consists of 165
watercolor paintings of the different species. His work is
aquired by "Leasehold Delegation of Guipúzcoa".
1991:
Prepares and directs the book "Birds
Of The Basque Country" for the Basque Government.
Selected for the Watercolor Hall.

1991-1995:
Participates in collective
exhibitions with the Association of Basque Watercolorists
and the Association of Catalan Watercolorists.
He investigates new routes of
expression in the drawing and different concepts from the
perspective. Within the watercolor and techniques
with water, starting off of the
figuration, he looks for
new ways of realism.
Following this new perspective search, he
starts looking into large formats (300
x 100 cms) applied to real projects
of Architecture and Engineering (Basque Government,
Delegation and City councils).
He recreates the industrial and rural
activities of the Basque Country (formats 100
x 70 cms) by order of the Departments
of Patrimony of the Delegations of Guipúzcoa and Biscay,
with the advising of the Directors of Patrimony, Manu
Izaguirre and Aingeru Zabala, and the historians Fermín
Leizaola and Alberto Santana.
He collaborates with the composer
Miquel Pujol, Director of the Museum of Art of
Barcelona Soccer Club, in one of its
projects of fusion of Music, Literature and Painting with
other Catalan authors.
1995-2002:
He continues the accomplishment
of proyects such as
architectonic-landscaping design and
artistic investigation in the field of the watercolor |
